The AHA is now offering web-only free membership:
Online-Only members receive exclusive access to the Humanist Online and Free Mind Online (coming soon), in addition to up-to-the-minute news on AHA activities and programs.
The process is unfortunately not the simplest in the world (they’re working on fixing that), but here’s what you have to do:
- Go here.
- Click on Free Trial! Online-Only Membership in the drop-down menu.
- At the bottom of the page, click on “Add to Cart.” (If you want to be awesome, please use my name in the “Referred By” line. I get nothing in return, but it’d be nice to know how many people signed up from this site.)
- On the next screen, click on “Check Out” at the bottom right.
- If you’re not a registered member, you will have to give them an email/password.
It all takes just a few minutes and you will be able to say you belong to a national Humanist organization

I hate to admit to my fears but I have to. Do I have to worry about them posting lists of their members? I have to be very quiet about my atheism. I don’t want to lose my job.

Another question…
Is this an USA-only organization, or I can assume by America they really mean America?
They mean America, though non-Americans can join. There is a British Humanist Association, for what it’s worth.

I know it’s kind of off-topic, but the use of the name of a continent as liberally as US folks sometimes leaves people from outside with the doubt, as the English language is more widely used on the web, one can never be sure about the meaning without the context. And as there are not that many secular groups around… it’s better to ask.
Well, I signed up with full intentions of giving you credit… but then got frustrated and somehow missed the “recommended by” field. *shrugs*

Well I signed up but I couldn’t find the place where could give you credit for pointint the way.
Thanks for the info. What a horrible sign up process though. Anything more than a single page request for email address (and maybe name) and they’re definitely losing lots of potential subscribers.
