Posted by Hemant Mehta in Mark Johnston‘s group in Texas, the Frisco Atheists, runs an interesting series of events: they meet with local pastors to show them that atheists are part of their community.
The Frisco Atheists occasionally meet with local pastors to help them to become aware that some of their neighbors are atheists and to give local atheists a chance to be completely honest about their beliefs in a non-threatening environment.
We call the events “Meet-the-Pastor” and we usually have a 50-50 mix of believers to atheists.
Their next meeting will be on Thursday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m.
The group will meet with Jim Lugar, from Life Journey Church, at the Irish Rover Pub.

Interesting comment; and it’s also important for local atheists to know that Christians are part of their community as well.
As if they could possibly forget? This is Texas we’re talking about. I’m sure it’s pretty much impossible to be unaware that Christians make up the vast majority of the community.
Seriously, though, I do think that mutual understanding is a worthy goal.
