I checked back on the site, and I believe they deleted my comment there. I did accidentally do the e-mail wrong the first time, but it worked the second time.

Most of the comments are unbelievable. One person's comment was marked down (the number scoring thing on the side) because they talked about their difficulties with private insurance, with no vitriol.

She should put that to music and play it on her ukulele. Am I the only one who never really thought she was funny? I thought they always gave her the "dumb-blonde" roles on SNL because that was the only part she was capable of playing.

When you don't have truth or facts on your side you might as well make up the biggest and most outrageous lies you can. Why bother with the truth when you can just say anything that you think will help your cause.

Is Jackson's piece like the political equivalent of a Gish Gallop?

Elsewhere in the piece she says that liberals don't support health care out of concern for people's well-being because we don't visit hospitals and give 10% of our income to charity. Riight...

So… kill off the weak. That’s the plan. Tax the workers to death. Erase the middle class.

If Jackson is literally claiming that Obama wants to kill of the weak, doesn't that make her piece libel?

Stogoe said:
On a related note, I love how the argument against a public-run health care option is always “it’s awful, terrible, overpriced, and will refuse you life-saving care, and the insurance companies can’t possibly compete with that!”

Your comment wins the health care debate for ever. Its like the opponents of healthcare have abandoned all appearance of reason and are just flinging shit and hoping desperately that something sticks.

The very idea that anyone should be remotely concerned about the fate of the healthcare insurance companies is itself, very silly.

The reader comments to her post also seem to be of much the same mind. "Thank you, Victoria!" and "I am enjoying your political awakening!" and "spot on" and "Way to tell it like it is Victoria!"

Holy crap. That's just frightening.

Can people actually be that stupid?

You need to stop looking for a ground floor of stupidity below which no-one can go. There's no such floor. It's stupid all the way down.

I don't get it. I know that Obama was talking about executing detainees held at Gitmo without trials (and, more recently of continuing to hold them indefinitely even if they did have trials and were found not guilty by a court), so he's definitely every bit as evil as Bush was, but what has he said about killing the elderly? I know that Britain denies many types of medical treatment to the elderly, so perhaps that's an oblique reference to his plans for health care rationing? Perhaps the answer is at the original post, but I can't bear more than one paragraph of that drivel right now...

I don't think she realized the deer-in-the-headlights-frozen-smile look was really the store owner searching frantically for the security buzzer behind the counter.
I guess according to Victoria there are no grandmama's and babies in Canada, since we have Medicare and legalized abortion. As a result of Medicare, we also have government sponsored anti-smoking programs and laws(cigarettes are super expensive and can't be openly displayed in stores, cigarette packaging depicts the dangers of smoking, and many provinces do not allow smoking in public places), loads of information and intervention regarding FAS, and seatbelt, child carseat and helmet laws that I just don't see in the States.
