The Freedom From Religion Foundation is suing the president and many others over making the National Day of Prayer a federal holiday.

Here is the actual complaint (PDF).

The national proclamation issued this year asked God’s blessings on our country and called for Americans to observe the day with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.

Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle is named in the suit because he is one of 50 governors who issued proclamations calling for the prayer day. The foundation is based in Madison.

Shirley Dobson, chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and White House press secretary Dana Perino also are named.

Roger Ebert gave Religulous three and a half stars!

As you read this, I am taking a Multivariable Calculus midterm. Curse you, grad school. Curse you.

    Hey Hemant,

What topics in particular do you study in maths? Does your multivariate calculus course cover Sturm-Louiville eigenvalue problems with the 2-D heat and wave equation?

Those subjects aren’t covered. It’s more just finding equations of planes, directional derivatives, gradients, etc.

Yay math!!! Numbers, letters, and funky symbols make me happy!

    Hemant,

I don’t know how much you love math, or how much you love teaching but you might consider becoming a CPA. The money is good and the demand is high. And it is easier than calculus.

  5. avatar TXatheist Says:

If you are thinking about being a CPA the hours during tax time are unbelievable. You have to take continuous education to keep your CPA exam too.

Religulous- 5 out of 5 stars. I loved it.

Aw, what are you complaining about? Multivariable calculus is great! Much better than partial differentials.

I wasn’t aware it was made a national holiday. I welcome the lawsuit.

And good on Ebert for his review. I should be going to see it today (here in Salt Lake City)

    EEEWWWW.

I didn’t mind calc until there were multiple variables. That’s when I hit my limit (HA!).
