Why do I say that?
In the piece Hemant quotes above there is a link to another blog post of hers in which she explicitly says:

I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a Christian anymore, because that would limit my connection with the Divine. Loving God is much like a successful long term relationship. You’ve got to try a lot of different things, be adventurous in order to keep things interesting.

Not necessarily a position that I have much respect for on an intellectual level – but, while I largely agree with Sam Harris’ point about moderates/spiritual/vaguely transcendental types giving credence to the concept of unfounded beliefs, on a purely pragmatic level I have no problem with it.

Looks to me like Margaret Cho is the same kind of Christian as Rev. Candace Chellew-Hodge – ignore or twist as much of the bible as necessary to get Christianity to fit your worldview.

Plus, she speaks as authoritatively about ‘knowing the mind of God’ as the ’scary’ Christians do That position/attitude will always boggle my mind.

I just don’t understand what is the draw to Christianity anymore when you have to do that much tap-dancing around the difficult issues and the fundamentalists. Just let it go already! There’s better choices out there.
