Camp Quest Michigan is having a family campout this weekend (August 8th - 10th) and it’s not too late to sign up!
The event takes place at the Hell Creek Ranch in Hell, Michigan.
This weekend campout is open to families with children, as well as past, present, and future Camp Quest volunteer counselors. Enjoy swimming, horseback riding, and campfires with your fellow atheists, humanists, skeptics, and freethinkers of all stripes and ages.

I just heard a blurb on NPR. All Things Considered is going to do a segment, about “Camp Inquiry” a summer camp for agnostics and atheists, today. I hope they do a good job. If I like what I’m going to hear today I’m going to send them a nice email. I’m sure they are going to be deluged with hate for this piece from the loving religous people who hear it.
I’ve been to Hell and back, a few times. Frankly, it’s not much to see. They do have the Devil’s Den party store, where you can purchase a Bat Out of Hell, though. I doubt it improves anyone’s hitting, though… products from Hell can be tricky.
Actually, the correct location of Hell is the valley of Gei Hennom in Jerusalem, where the burning garbage dump known as Gehenna (later anglicized to Hell) used to be.
Everyone who is interested in this campout can just go to Hell.
It’s things like this that make me wish I had gotten around to reproducing earlier so I could have kids to send.

Not true. Hell is from the Old German halja, meaning “one who covers up or hides something”. Early English pagans used the term to refer to the realm of the dead before Christianity was introduced. Has nothing to do with Gei Hennom, which is anglicized to Gehenna.
The Hebrew word Sheol is translated in the King James Bible as Hell, but the Hennom Gulch is just Gehenna.
