    I had a similar convedrsation with my father this weekend.

    My dad is a born-again christian and, while not catholic, thought the “stealing” of the eucharist was sacrilegious.

    I told him that it was only a piece of bread, but he insisted that because it was a religious item its desecration is sacrilegious.

    I agreed but said why care so much it is still bread. I went on to say that this was no different the when the muslims had a fit about the illustration of Mohammed. Of course, Dad disagreed with this.

    Sacrilege means very little to an atheist.
