Eek, it’s like one of those maps that shows the spread of an infection. “This is America after 6 days unless we stop this epidemic” Except it’s too late.

Well, if you make the circles large enough, they cover a lot of ground, but personally I think there are actually far too few circles on that map. We would have 25 or 30 or more just in our town alone.

That’s it, I’m moving to Nevada.

I think the lack of churches is more a matter of population density than religiosity or lack thereof.

I have 4 churches on the 1 mile section of road that I live off of… it’s a little depressing.

Oh, come on, Hemant. At that scale, you’re not looking at “nearby churches” — you’re looking at vast herds of them represented by each individual circle representing a given locality. You could just have asked Google for representations of cities and towns, and you’d have gotten exactly the same map.

A better example of church population density (or whatever is the correct term here) would be created by looking at a map for a given city and seeing the individual church locations — how many there are overall, how they are grouped, and so on. That’s just not possible on the national-map scale. This national map is pretty much just reflecting general population centers and has no bearing on actual church population density; if there were only one church per town, the map would look exactly the same.
