Ron, Rep. Davis said it’s dangerous for ideas like the ones you have to even exist. She’s a public official — an employee of the public and paid by taxpayers — and she doesn’t think you have a right to talk about your ideas in public. So if you really don’t have a problem with that, you’ll stop posting them in public venues.

But I don’t want you to do that.

In many ways I don’t get the attachment to labels. Yes, I’m skeptical of God’s existence. So, does that make me a skeptic? On the other hand, I have a high degree of certainty that God doesn’t exist. So, does that make me an atheist? Similarly, I really couldn’t give a tinker’s damn about whether God exists. So does that make me an apatheist?

I suppose that’s why I wasn’t particularly offended by Rep. Davis.

I do appreciate those people like you Hermant who keep the dialog going.

Piling on, I love the comics. I particularly liked the recent Comfort one too; I wonder how many fundie heads that would’ve flown over (had their heads not exploded from reading previous ones).

Love it too, as you can see from the number of times I posted a comic on my blog (always hosting the image locally and linking to the original page on cectic.com, which I believe is the nicest way to post comics and images from other sites: I don’t use their bandwidth, but I credit the author and give him/her credit).

I’ve been reading Cectic “religiously” for quite some time now. It’s one of my favorite webcomics. A couple of them are a tad clunky or obscure — but when they’re on target, they’re PERFECT. The last couple of them (”The Squabble” and “The Squabble Redux”) are a couple of the best lately, I think.
