Many times when I have visited this atheist site I have been offended by the snide remarks made about Our Lord Odin and I am so happy to see one of us casting aside decorum and taking a stand.

Are they not the result of atheists “combing” the internet for things to make fun of?

No, they are not. Is that a clear enough answer for you? There is no secret cabal of atheist foragers.

Where does it come from if not from trolling/combing the internet for fodder to humiliate people?

Are the mechanics of social networks completely foreign to you? It's as if you've never been on the Internet before. Each one of us is privy to millions of pieces of information per day. For Hemant, some of that information is bound to be silly stories about religion, which he then shares. It's nothing more sinister than that.

And anyway, did you actually expect a reaction different from the one you got? It's not as if you moseyed in here with an inquisitive demeanor looking to get some real answers; you clearly charged in, guns blazing, and asked some offensively loaded questions. How did you honestly expect anyone to react civilly when you displayed no such civility yourself? What sort of ends can that kind of behavior result in?

Also, Sabrina addressed this general assertion in her March 26, 2008 at 9:56pm post, so consider your assessment not ignored, twice.

If you're referring to this:

The motive behind Hemant creating this blog was to bring Christians and atheists together for peaceful, and rational dialogue.

Yes, this is also quite funny. What you all "claim" the blog is and what it actually is, are two very very different things. Just because she "addressed" it means nothing. That's the b.s. line, but I'm referring to what the real purpose of the blog is.

Like I said, this blog is a compilation of hundreds, perhaps thousands of entries that exist merely to make fun of, humiliate, or ridicule theists.

Really, trolling, this, that, or the other is all irrelevant. You cannot admit that this blog exists to tear others down.

Where do all these entries come from? Are they not the result of atheists "combing" the internet for things to make fun of? The dude with the reflection of the cross on his garage? Where does it come from if not from trolling/combing the internet for fodder to humiliate people?

You know what? Don't bother responding. I know there is no answer that you can honestly provide. I will be back in a few months after the next hypocritical moral failure by Hemant piques my interest to check to see if he's stepped up to the plate and shed the solidarity burden. His cross, if you will.

To GONP:

You ignore my assessment that the entire premise of this blog is “trolling” on theists. It is 5% sharing thoughts, and 95% making fun.

You've carefully considered the subject matter of nearly two years worth of posts, and then categorized and calculated this result? Also, Sabrina addressed this general assertion in her March 26, 2008 at 9:56pm post, so consider your assessment not ignored, twice.

Yes, illiteracy is tragic. When did I say I was a Christian? Add pigeon holing to bullying. It’s the only way you know how to respond to honest criticism. To bully then pigeon hole.

You're the one who came charging in the door, keyboard blazing, acting like a troll: posting way off topic; making unfounded assertions about events at an Easter church service (addressed in my post above); and accusing people of making unfair generalizations about others, while yourself painting everyone here with the broadest brush you could muster.

So, you're not a Christian, then? Why not lay your metaphysical cards on the table, and we'll start having the kind of dialogue you claim doesn't happen much here?

It’s quite sad that such “cool” people really have no response to legitimate comments.

I doubt anyone here considers your comments legitimate, for the reasons I stated above. Yes, there really are a lot of cool people here, but you wouldn't know it; you're too busy spouting off in an embarrassingly (for you) ignorant fashion.

Does this blog rely on trolling theism or does it not? You can’t answer a simple question, or defend the fact that it’s really all this is.

I think you're a little confused about the practice of Internet trolling.

From Dictionary.com:
regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that the have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll."

The above definition would make you the troll, not Hemant; you're disrupting his blog, not the other way round.

Just for the record, I don't believe in the Christian God. And staging an anti-war protest at an Easter church service is something I definitely wouldn't do or condone. There are probably a number of others here who would agree with me on those two points, but you'll never hear from them; they clicked on to the next thread when you showed up in full flame-bait mode.

Yes, reading a blog is so out of the ordinary and sociopathic. You got me. I post a comment when I see glaring hypocrisy and y’all can’t even respond to anything except say things like, “You have no friends, right?”

But you’ll probably just ignore me pointing out your shortcomings and just remark about how I must be some weirdo, right?

Sociopathic, no. Crying out for attention ("please call me a weirdo, so I can keep saying how mean all 'you people' are"), probably. Have you got anything more than non-stories about mean "atheists", assertions without arguments, and name calling to offer? If so, there are (remarkably!) a couple of people on this thread who are still listening.

I didn’t realize we were being “whipped into a frenzy”.

You are. You people are perhaps the most closed minded I have ever seen. It is astonishing. You resort to bullying. You ignore my assessment that the entire premise of this blog is "trolling" on theists. It is 5% sharing thoughts, and 95% making fun.

Is it because absurd beliefs (like Cheetos being a sign from a deity) are being questioned? Why does that make you nervous?

Ridiculous. It's like you don't even read English.

because when you go out, you probably meet all types of different Christians,

Yes, illiteracy is tragic. When did I say I was a Christian? Add pigeon holing to bullying. It's the only way you know how to respond to honest criticism. To bully then pigeon hole.

It's quite sad that such "cool" people really have no response to legitimate comments. (The leprechaun bs is yes, bs. You would have clearly read that theists have tons of circumstantial evidence spanning thousands of years to support a little bit of a claim. Unicorns do not. You would have read that if you were not simply looking for angles to bully with.)

Does this blog rely on trolling theism or does it not? You can't answer a simple question, or defend the fact that it's really all this is.

All you people do is bully those who have a different view. "Lurking?" What a hilarious word you use. Yes, reading a blog is so out of the ordinary and sociopathic. You got me. I post a comment when I see glaring hypocrisy and y'all can't even respond to anything except say things like, "You have no friends, right?"

It depends, Sam - are you the same person as the one who styles himself "Glaring Ommission Notifier Person"? If you are not, then most of those personal attacks were not directed at you, but at him. There may have been some confusion between the two of you, since your postings seem to be so closely allied. If so, sorry about the confusion, and I apologize. Your postings were only a bit cranky (crankiness is ok), but his were decidedly trollish.

Hemant is not “finding ways for atheists and theists to talk” by calling this youth director “idiotic”. He is obsessing about a cheeto while ignoring all the good this man does in the world.

Hemant seems to be getting you to talk. Hemant is not obsessed, I don't think. Neither does he ignore what is good. But, what is objectionable about this little religious episode is not the good that any Christian does but the bad that they do when they throw common sense out the window. Am I to think that the transcendent God that created this marvelous universe takes the time to perform a miracle on a cheeto? Far cry from raising the dead.
