The Midwest Meetup?
Skepchick Elyse and I are wondering if any atheists in (or willing to travel to) the Chicago area might be interested in meeting sometime this month. (If so, where?)
It’s not fair that the East Coasters and Pharyngulites get to have all the fun outings… We want in on the action!

Hey there. I am a member of the University of Illinois Atheists, Agnostics, & Freethinkers Club. We are hosting James Randi and Richard J. Roberts here in Champaign, IL on March 10. Also, if you were to organize some kind of meeting, I’m sure some of our members would drive up to Chicago to take part. And, non-student members of CUFree, the Champaign-Urbana Freethinkers group, would probably also be interested. So, yes. That would be cool.

Right now I think March 22 is the date we’re shooting for. I’m trying to find a decent place in the River North/Loop area (close to public transportation) that serves kick-ass drinks (Rebecca would not let me represent Skepchick sans drink-in-hand) and has a decent vegetarian menu (Hemant and I don’t eat meat.)

Shit! I’m in Milwaukee, but I’m going to a fetus party on the 22nd (seriously, that’s what they’re calling it - it’s pretty much a co-ed baby shower.) I plan on getting pretty frosted there, so I probably won’t be able to fumble through a toll booth by that point.
Shit! Let me know if you guys change the date.

Meet up on a Sunday! Too bad, I usually work on Saturdays. It’s possible I could be done by 5, maybe. I think the suburbs are better because I hate paying for parking, for what its worth, but we aren’t exactly crawling with vegetarian food out here, either.

Saturday is probably better since we have out-of-state and down-state folks coming in. And it will be in the evening, 8pm-ish… until ?????
I think I found a place but I’m waiting for them to get back to me with a “Yeah, we can’t wait for your heathen friends to take over our establishment!” Given the history of this place, I think they will be game.
Hopefully, I’ll have details tomorrow evening! Stay tuned!
