IF there really was a Jesus, all this stuff would have rotted and decayed back into the earth by now. I can't imagine why anyone would want to preserve pieces of the cross. The closest thing to preservation of the dead and items there of were the Egyptians and even then I wonder if they areally did find the skeletal remains of Tut and alike. Maybe they did and maybe they didn't. I seriously doubt that nails and pieces of a cross/tree were on the list of priorities though. It’s amazing what people will try to sell as authentic.
