Why a roll of paper towels? That grosses me out for some reason.

For lunch, it's nice to have around. And, you know, just in case water spills or something...

That is cute. Why isn’t your desk in your classroom? Do your teachers have to share rooms?

I don't have "a" classroom. I share a couple with other teachers. And all of us have our desks in a central office.

Linda, the eraser is one of the few objects I keep careful track of, being so good at making mistakes. :) I'd like to say that science-oriented people prefer to write in pencil and keep an eraser handy for when new evidence makes their theories need revising, but really it's just that I make a lot of mistakes.

Good to know Hemant is mentally healthy!

I think we should start a messy atheists club, where we can discuss how we went looking for God, but fear he is buried somewhere in the desk pile.

Richard,

I'm amazed. I'm impressed. I'm... speechless... :-)

One question... what do you hope to accomplish with that little teeny eraser sitting on one corner of your desk? ;-)

Hemant, you call that a messy desk? Amateur! You have to really work hard for years to achieve a real man's messy desk. Now here is the messy desk of a master of messes. Mine.

I haven't seen the top of this desk since I bought it. Like sedimentary layers, the deeper you dig, the older the material. The stuff on the lowest levels aren't paper, they're clay tablets written in cuneiform.

Hemant,

Wow, I was shocked at how much it looks like my own desk. Do not fret... It doesn't indicate that you're a messy person. I'm guessing it's just a personality trait.

I'll bet even when you do clean it up and organize it (meticulously at that)periodically, it doesn't take long for it to look like that agian, does it? You also know exactly where everything is in all that mess, right? I don't know about you, but a messy desk indicates work in progress with me. It doesn't get cleaned up until the project is completed. I can't think unless I can see everything I'm working on spread out before me.

I am intrigued, though, at the things that others noticed in the picture. I saw everything in one glance, but the only thing that caught my interest was that you and your collegue both have similar bamboo plants on your desks.

I can pick out the various personality traits in the comments. It's fascinating! :-)

That's soooo not messy enough to be cleaned up .... you need to give it at least another month or two.
