Artwork from Crap Hound

Crap Hound is a clip-art zine. It’s described on Boing Boing like this:

Each page is a kind of collage of stark, black-and-white imagery of these things, laid out with a lot of wit and yet with a solemn appreciation for the subject.

The new issue comes out today and it’s called: Crap Hound #7: Church & State.

Here is one of the images from the zine:

Beautiful.

If you’re like me, you’re going to make a *huge* poster of that image and hang it on your wall.

    Is that ’snacking’ or ’shacking’?

  2. avatar Isaah Vincent Says:

Don’t know about the rest of you, but I, for one, have never mongered a whore.

    Strange, yet poetic.

whispering’s a sin now? is this why so many fundies feel compelled to SHOUT LOUDLY IN CAPITALS?

  5. avatar J Sveda Says:

    @ash :

I think that ‘whisperer’ means ‘gossiper’, a gossipy person. see define:whisperer on Google if you understand Russian. If not, use babelfish to translate the second cyrilic word - it is translated as ‘gossiper’.

Apart from that, the figure above the word ‘whisperer’ is a woman. Women are notorious gossipers, especially older ones.

  6. avatar Huffy Says:

I think including hypocrissy is the candle on the proverbial cake.

I too have never mongered anyone to the best of my ability. But I have had some real drunken nights…so…who knows.

ahh, hence the illustration above ‘hypocrisy’ - as everyone knows what notorious hypocrites tables are…

holy cow! Crap Hound is still around??? I still have my coveted issues #2 and 3 from the mid-1990s. Wow. Neat. The Sex and Kitchen Gadgets issue was great, but alas it was sold out by the time I tried to order it.

Why does God care about a momentary lapse?

Many Christians say God allows evil because , after all, a lifetime of suffering is nothing compared to the eternity of Heaven.

So why is a momentary lapse not also nothing compared to the eternity of Heaven?

UNRELATED COMMENT BUT NOWHERE ELSE TO PUT IT:
I think it would be a great idea to start a forum/ message board associated with this website. One of my favorite parts about the site is the commenting and discussion amongst the visitors. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of posts, a comment discussion is often pushed beyond the front page and then basically lost. I think a message board would be conducive to the environment Hemant has tried to create here.

I’m pretty sure it’s rather easy to make one as well.

    What does everyone else think?

  11. avatar Siamang Says:

    I agree with unbrainwashed.

  12. avatar The Unbrainwashed Says:

OK so Siamang and I are in. Anyone else? Or is no one reading the comments on this post? Maybe I’ll post this in another post’s comment section.

I’m not opposed to this, but perhaps someone else would have to moderate it.

That said, what’s wrong with IIDB?

Also, would a thread on a message board eventually fade away as well?

    Just asking :)

  14. avatar The Unbrainwashed Says:

    Hemant:
Threads on message boards fade away as well. But the lifetime of a comment discussion on here is often less than a day. The average lifetime for a message board thread is usually around 3 or 4 days (can go on for as long as 2 or 3 weeks even).

There are plenty of other atheist message boards (IIDB, Raving Atheists, RDF…), but I am interested in a message board populated by the specific group of individuals that visit this blog.

Maybe you can have a post on the front page and someone can look into setting it up?

  15. avatar Richard Wade Says:

Unbrainwashed, That’s an excellent idea. The pace of the posts here is stimulating but some of the discussions that are still going end up on the fourth page. I’m in.

  16. avatar hoverFrog Says:

“Pride” is there twice. Clearly pride is twice as bad a sin as incest or murder.

  17. avatar Maria Says:

I agree with unbrainwashed’s idea too. It’s a good one.

  18. avatar Jen Says:

I was going to say what Hermant said, which was that it sounds like a big responsibilty to also run a message board, and probably would cost more money. Is there anyone here besides our fearless leader who would be willing to step up/run/maintain the board?

  19. avatar Karen Says:

Pride was always presented as the worst of all possible sins in the conservative churches I attended.

  20. avatar Will Says:

I won’t be putting that up, but I will be taking a picture of this when I go to the Museum of Natural History this weekend. I will also be framing it. If I had an office it would go there, too. Maybe I can get a second copy and put it in the CASH office.
