An interesting take from a Christian point of view.
I find this a reason why Christmas isn’t a religious holiday and why I can still celebrate it.

It still baffles me why kids continue to believe their parents about God after they learn that Santa is just make believe. They both live in an inaccessible place, they see you but you don’t see them, know all about you, they reward or punish you, etc. If I convinced you of a tall tale and later you found out it was false, would you believe me a second time if I told the same tall tale with just a few details changed?

My 10-year old (back when he was 9) coupled the two concepts and discarded whatever God-belief he might-of picked up along with his Santa belief at the same time. Religious people need to be very careful around this age with their kids. I remember one woman at church who was devastated that her son (who was also around 9) said he didn’t believe in God one day. It can, and does, happen even in Christian households.

    thank God ;)

I guess you hadn’t heard about the tiger going bezerk in the San Francisco Zoo when you posted this. :)
