Funny...this guy looks just like one of my best Christian friends, except he has a leopard spotted mohawk and a hook in his lip to go along with his other piercings and tatoos! Yep, he smokes, and even drinks on occasion, but God still loves him. Bravo to this teacher for trying to teach the children that you can not tell a christian by looking at them. Hopefully this kid gets that message one day. Maybe I'll do this project in my class too, then bring in my friend as an example...could be a good lesson in not judging others which, by the way, is a sin! and to those of you who are atheists, I hope and pray that one day you will come to know that Jesus Christ loves you too, just the way you are, no changes required! (even without sleeves!;))

well the irony is I got to this site through an image search so my little sunday schoolers could draw their friends - What a great opportunity for that sunday school teacher to teach that God loves everybody - she shouldnt be horrified but should have used this opportunity to share with her class acceptance,(not necessarily tolerance) of all people. And that drinking tattoed body pierced druggies can also know God. WOW wish it had been me. I realise you are an atheist and will now pray for you but your image of christians is just as distorted as this child's image of non-christians. We are all different and yes thre are some Christians who go down the self righteous goody two shoes track but then there are others who are in the world (not of it)

I found your site looking on Google for a picture of a cookie/man outline. I'm doing a lesson with my class about what good friends look like on the inside rather than on the outside.
The point being the whole 'can't choose a book by the cover' thing.
That's what I believe as a Christian. Jesus won't worry about the unibrow, He loves you anyway.
God bless and thanks for the clipart.

WOw I am very sad at the fact that the one with tattoos crazy hair and smokes is the one with out Christ... I have 5 tatoos 3 of witch all pertain to my faith... I work with my church's youth group and I am considered cool because of my cool hair and tattoos... hmmm makes you think of who is teaching our youth children and hate.. because I am pretty sure that God does not care what we look like but what is in oure hearts. Perhaps it is time we leave the judging to him????

If it was possible to be a Christian without doing all that stuff or believing in God or reading the Bible I’d probably become one because I would like to have that look in my eyes and be at peace within.

Oy.

[anecdotal evidence]
I've known quite a few religious people who are not at all at peace. I've known otherwise reasonable Christians who live in fear of devils; Christians who live in fear of their own angers. I've known devout Jewish believers who threw daily tantrums at work. I've had a chair thrown at me by a devout Christian(unprovoked and in a workplace setting, by the way) who prays daily and volunteers at his church.

The fervent believers who live in fear of their own anger or capacity to doubt or ability to resist 'sin' do have a look in their eyes. It is the look of complacency, of buried aggression and unrest. [/anecdotal evidence]

I do hope this isn't taken to mean that I think that all believers are like the description above. I also hope somebody else can pull out the stat that shows that religious believers generally fear death more than nonbelievers.

For the record, not believing does not have an adverse effect on my personal happiness or level of contentment. I am something the opposite of complacent and am rather active politically, so I guess you couldn't call me a completely calm and restive fellow, but I am a happy human being. I enjoy my life, I enjoy other people. My life is filled with gifts and love, and on any given night I'm perfectly okay with the fact that I might die before I wake up. I don't fear death and I don't look forward to it. I am able to love the world without having to have total faith in its goodness.

And you sound remarkably like a Christian plant trying to spread 'good' news. Or like a satirist who didn't do a good job.

Thanks Richard. I think the age of the kid makes a difference. It's also worth pointing out that the banana video so well known to atheists may not be well known in other circles. The Sunday School teacher had never seen the banana video so she couldn't figure out why Hemant was laughing so hard... :-)

Who knows why the kid drew a banana--maybe because it's an object that is relatively easy to represent.

globalizati, I apologize to you and to the Sunday School teacher for my addition to the incorrect characterization of her that got rolling in this discussion. Thank you for reminding me to be more careful about making assumptions from other's impressions.
