He Lives!

If you go to this site and wait for Jesus to stop talking, he’ll follow your mouse’s every move.

I’ve been mesmerized for several minutes now.

And a little freaked out. His head never moves down.

He kinda resembles Alice during the Brady Bunch theme song…

If that wasn’t enough, when he speaks, you can apparently hear the word “Messiah” in the background.

Twice.

I’m in an airport right now, so I don’t feel comfortable turning up the volume while the word “Messiah” is belted out.

But you can let me know if that’s true or not…

I think it’s safe to say this is a True Miracle.

If you move your mouse around in quick circles he gets the googly eyes.

What’s the point of this? Empty mockery? As if that’s been such a great success.

If this didn’t annoy me so much I’d give you a hint that would give you something substantial to work with on that site, but I’m not wasting it on childish snark.

Ha! I just tried to go to this from Harding. BLOCKED, of course. (Glad you had a sense of humor about that.) Glad you had a good visit and got to meet some of our favorite profs and students.

Click on the comments page. There’s a another one of these, but this time it’s Satan, reading from The Rolling Stone song, “Sympathy for the Devil” .

It makes me sad he won’t go cross eyed when you put the mouse on his nose.

How odd! I did hear the word ‘messiah’ twice. Perhaps I’m saved now…or something. I’ll say one thing, Jesus is very pretty!

  7. avatar Eric Says:

I don’t know if I would have heard the word “Messiah” if I hadn’t read the article first, but it can be heard twice.

  8. avatar toomanytribbles Says:

there’s no ‘messiah’ in the background. it’s a computer-generated voice and the quality is bad. i think he thinks he hears it when the voice says, ‘know me as i am’ — but that’s all.

Blue eyes, fair skin, auburn hair. All he needs is a surfboard to be complete.

HappyNat, I was thinking the same thing–I wanted to make him crosseyed!

And yes, you can sort of hear the word “Messiah”, but that’s only because of the crappy text-to-speech voice distorting the words “as I am”.

Why is Jesus ALWAYS Swedish looking? He was a Mediterranean Jew! Anyhow, I don’t know why, but his eyes following me around the screen was thoroughly creepy.

  12. avatar Mriana Says:

That’s Jesus? Doesn’t look a thing like him. He doesn’t look Swedish to me either. Whatever, it is bizarre. Probably a flaw in the programming as to why the character doesn’t look down.

  13. avatar Mriana Says:

I didn’t hear the word “messiah”, but I take it I didn’t miss anything? Right?

It didn’t seem like it was being belted out in that deal with that guy in the upper left that moves his eyes. I’m not sure what is fascinating about it. No, I haven’t been playing it this whole time, I got an email update that mentioned the messiah thing- again (funny it get an update on a previous post). I realized I missed something and returned. I still don’t hear it.

Hi , I’m a student at harding and I was at your talk last night, I was just wondering if you went to any churches around here while you were in town and if so what you thought of them. Thanks!

Jen– I did go to the Downtown church in the morning. As I told some of the students I was there with, I thought it was a bit too heavy on the number of songs for my liking, but the sermon had a good theme. I appreciated that the pastor admitted he had doubts about his faith. I didn’t agree with his conclusions about why god was silent sometimes, but that’s besides the point.

Now that’s a scary Halloween site.

The phrase “as I am” “blips” and sounds like “messiah.”
