People do the evil they do not because of their religion; their religion or atheism becomes a pretext for their action. Only an evil person will use atheism as a rationale to do evil. Religion is bad only when it is a reservoir for bad actors; the same is true of atheism, or any world view.

The previous two stories that were available from the news source had not a mention of what was said. And it 's also peculiar that in the story using the "There is no God" line as a 'fact' with no qualifiers, this statement occurs: "There were threats made as the assailant left the house. He said to her things to the effect, 'don't call anybody, next time it will be worse.' <strong>Or words to that effect</strong>." (emphasis mine). Thirdly, there’s no direct tie between his non-belief in God and his criminal behavior. Though I’m sure we’ll see that connection being made by various people.
