Time for impeachment yet?

I don’t ever want to hear from another Republican again about how terrible it was that Clinton lied about an affair under oath. In fact, I’m expecting an apology from them any time now. Something tells me I shouldn’t hold my breath.

Where does one begin with this Administration? The state of our Union is surreal. We have gone beyond the ridiculous, the scandalous, the obscene, into a twilight world where up is down and down is up. When a full 44% of the American people still think that Saddam Hussein participated in 9-11 and that WMD were found in Iraq after our invasion, there is little chance for justice, or even reason, to prevail in our country. A third of us see our country as the fool in a dark comedy, another third doesn’t get the joke, and the last third can’t seem to make up their minds. Our people are stalemated–no matter what they say to the pollsters. We’re not going to impeach anyone. If there was true justice in our land, we’d pardon our pathetic Idiot in Chief, and we’d impeach ourselves.

Only 567 days left of the most corrupt and autocratic administration in living memory! You can keep track of it down to the very second here. I’m going to get increasingly nervous as we approach Inauguration Day because I think George the Usurper is completely capable of declaring himself President for life because of whatever the “Evil Doers” will be cooking up. Think I’m paranoid? I hope you’re right. Complacency preceeds catastrophe.

I saw Sicko over the weekend and Moore makes the point that the American public is largely uneducated and completely frightened. Which is exactly what the current government wants, in order to control things and stay in power.

Excellent film, despite Moore’s penchant for grandstanding and some obvious holes he leaves wide open that I feel would’ve only strengthened his argument had he acknowledged them.

I don’t know how uneducated and frightened Americans are these days. In my view, what they are, or have been, is unengaged in politics. They have made the mistake of leaving politics to the professionals. I’m hoping that our latest national woes will be this generation’s reminder that our form of government does not operate automatically; it requires our attendance. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans don’t come to this realisation until their situation is dire. We’ll get real about the state of our affairs eventually. I just hope there’ll be enough of a union left to reform.
