This chart really needs to have a legend besides the five octagons on the right. (Which shouldn't be inside the frame because they are confusing) Do the sizes of the rectangles represent membership size? When some rectangles are inside others does that mean they are owned, affiliated or just aligned with the larger rectangles? What do the colors mean? Why are some yellow, green or blue? Does the partial overlapping of the American Humanist Association green rectangle over the Secular Coalition for America yellow square mean some kind of special relationship? Why are some small groups connected by lines and others not to the "Universe of Local Groups?" And what is that? Is that a formal group? I never heard of it. Why is it a pink oval? What do the dashed lines between some groups mean? Does the up-down, left-right placement in the frame mean something? If Camp Quest is on there, should the Carl Sagan Academy be included?

I'm not sure what the reason is for AA not joining the Secular Coalition. However, I think that'll change soon enough. AA has a political action committee (<a href="http://www.godlessamericans.org/" rel="nofollow">GAMPAC</a>) that can endorse candidates, but it doesn't have lobbying power.

Do you have any inside information on why American Atheists remains unwilling to join the Secular Coalition? I am still curious about that, and I have a hard time wanting to support them until they join the Coalition.

Hmm... let's correct that. And then we'll pretend that no one noticed. (Thanks for pointing it out :))

Is it too pedantic to point out that this isn't, strictly speaking, a flowchart?
