The symbol is probably one of those examples of being meanspirited simply due to blindness -- the people involved probably never in their wildest dreams thought of any soldier as anything but a Christian. It's insulting to a great many soldiers, among others. They should give a moment's thought when they come up with an idea like using this symbol; is it too much to ask that when they're thinking of some symbolic support for veterans that they actually give it more than a moment's thought?

It's a slam dunk case to me, she should have an alternative but what really bothers me is the idea the cross honors veterans. If memory serves me correct, Jesus wasn't out there standing watch, washing helicopters, greasing rotor blade fittings and running for our annual physical test, it was me and me alone doing it :)
