Mrs. Garrison’s Theory of Evolution

Is this how bad it sounds to people who don’t understand it?

And the *ahem*… “lovemaking” scene with Richard Dawkins and Mrs. Garrison was priceless.

The South Park guys, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have said in interviews that they were going to poke fun at atheism this season, but I’m not sure any real point was made about it. Dawkins’ character came off pretty accurately. He was intelligent, trusting in science, and wanting to keep church and state separate at school– even when someone was spreading atheist beliefs. The rest of the episode centered around a side story that had no major connection to the Dawkins storyline, although it did feature several different “races” of atheist tribes at war with one-another.

This was presumably part one of a two part episode, so perhaps we’ll see a better conclusion this Wednesday night. I wouldn’t mind if they actually mocked atheism– as long as they were funnier about it. This episode wasn’t anywhere near as hilarious as their episodes ripping on Scientology or the Catholic Church.

The world of warcraft episode was outright hilarious.

I’m actually sad that the atheist episode wasn’t funnier, more pointed, more satirical and… well, just more biting.

It’s like the “worst” think they could think to hit atheism with was to have Dawkins have sex with Garrison.

I was looking for them to rip us up. I feel cheated.

But mrs. garrison’s description of evolution was really funny.

Hemant, Show Garrison’s boobs on your next post. I don’t think I can get enough of them!

    That is funny, however!

If you notice at the end there are competing Atheist Groups fighting for domination of the world. At one point in the episode Dawkin’s character says that without religion we wouldn’t have conflicts because the core of all conflicts is religion.

I think overall they’re going to point out that people will find a reason to fight, they will make up differences, presumably between the atheist groups that are small but they still kill each other and have conflicts.

I think its going to come together really well, and the plot lines are totally related because they want to ask cartman about dawkins or mrs. garrison …

The best thing this year was on Satan’s Super Sweet 16 cake, and the priests had naked little boys on those child leashes …

Well, you know the old saw, if you want to send a message, call Western Union.

I prefer funny to making an intellectual point. At least in my raunchy cartoon vulgar, potty-mouth shows.
