Ayaan Hirsi Ali is such an accomplished speaker, she’s pure gold to the atheist movement. I loved the bit at the end of the Q&A, I would have loved to have been there.
I think good things are going to come out of convention. Dawkins et al say that the release of the many atheist books was unplanned. Think about what a planned assault would do!
She’s a beautiful, intelligent, and charming young woman. Why any parents would want to give her up in the name or in favour of religion, I have no idea. I don’t know how old she is, but I not only want to nominate her for the Nobel Peace Prize, but if she wants another family who will love her for who she is and not what she is, I’ll gladly take her in and claim her as my daughter.
I don’t think my sons would mind having a big sister.
It’s a shame what religion does to families.

She’s my hero, and I’m so glad she had a chance to be at a conference where she got the praise and admiration she deserves. Her courage is absolutely enormous, and I highly recommend her book, Infidel. It’s a powerful read.
